Being avid travellers and self-proclaimed foodies, Marco and Elena took a trip through Europe in 2015 with the intent of enriching their culinary palette and collecting unique experiences they could later share with their family and friends back home.

On their visit to the iconic farmer's market in Bruges, Belgium ("The Markt"), Marco and Elena were lured in by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked waffles. The local vendor, a native Belgian lady from Liège, served these delicious square treats fresh off the hot cast iron with a modest dust of powdered sugar. It was love at first bite!

Upon second bite, Marco and Elena knew they were onto something special. This Belgian delight was unlike anything they had ever tasted before. They were so excited to share their experience with friends and family back home that upon return from their trip they relentlessly practiced the recipes shared from locals they met in Belgium until they found the perfect match. It was then that the idea of Wafel Bar was born. Marco and Elena aim to share their passion for this Belgian favourite with everyone across Canada.

Consider yourself warned, when we say these highly addictive waffles are not your typical waffles! Unlike those we are accustomed to in North America - which are basically pancakes cooked in a waffle iron - Liège waffles are on a category of their own. They are simply amazing and are packed with flavour. But don't take our word for it. Try one with us!

WAFEL BAR brings you a little taste of Belgium right to your hands

Fresh from Belgium - The dough at WAFEL BAR is made using a Belgian family recipe that dates back to the 1950s Belgium. We pride ourselves in using only high quality products that do not contain preservatives, artificial flavours or genetically modified ingredients. To achieve the perfect caramelization of our soft and chewy waffles we import authentic pearl sugar straight from Belgium. It's the secret that makes our Liège waffles perfect every time, and has given us a reputation as one the best waffles in Canada!
